Organisations of people living with disabilities in QwaQwa, in the eastern Free State, are demanding that the Maluti-A-Phofung employs 7% of them.
They insist that no decision about them should be made without their consultation.
The members of the organisations say their demands include jobs, business opportunities, housing and road maintenance.
“We are crying because of the 7% of employment. They fail us, they know us when they come to the elections only and also the food package only, so we’re tired of this,” says one member.
“We complain about houses, streets, water and many, many things,” another member
“We are struggling with learnerships. They are doing those leaderships for youth and women, but for people living with disabilities, there are no learnerships at all,” add another member.
