Gauteng residents should brace themselves for a cold snap from Thursday afternoon.
The SA Weather Service says this is a result of a cold front currently in the Western Cape and which is moving inland.
The cold weather could last through the weekend in certain parts of KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng.
Forecaster Kumza Masizana says: “The cold front is currently bringing wet and windy conditions to the Western Cape and parts of the Eastern Cape. Temperatures are also expected to drop significantly over the central interior which includes the Free State, North West, Mpumalanga, Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal. For Gauteng, we are expecting mostly fine conditions with clear skies throughout the day. Temperatures are expected to drop from this afternoon where Pretoria and Vereeniging will peak at about 12 degrees and Johannesburg will peak at 9 degrees.”
