The National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD) has released the latest coronavirus statistics that show close to 9000 new cases in the latest reporting period and 127 COVID 19 deaths.
The latest high numbers seem to confirm that South Africa is entering the third wave of the pandemic.
The NICD says 8 881 new cases were reported in the latest period taking the overall number of cases to more than 1 712 000.
The total number of deaths stands at 57 t310.
