Botswana President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi has appealed to US President Joe Biden to assist with COVID-19 vaccines.
Masisi made the call during a meeting with Victoria Nuland, the US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs.
Botswana has been experiencing a shortage of vaccine doses, leading to those who received the first dose of AstraZeneca vaccine having to get a different second dose.
Batlhalefi Leagajang is the Press Secretary in the Office of Botswana Presidency.
“The excellency Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi had a meeting with ambassador Victoria Nuland Under Secretary of State Political Affairs. They had a meeting to discuss a number of issues ranging from COVID-19, the fight against COVID-19, the vaccine roll out. His Excellency President Masisi took advantage of this meeting to make a special appeal to President Joseph Biden to assist Botswana with COVID-19 vaccine. It can either be through the sale of extra COVID-19 vaccines that the US has or in a form of a donation,” says Leagajang.
