E Cape police appears in court on three counts of murder

A 55-year-old police officer has briefly appeared before the Centane Magistrate’s Court in the Eastern Cape facing three counts of murder and one charge of attempted murder.

The officer allegedly shot three people following a long-standing dispute over a piece of land in the area.

Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) Spokesperson, Ndileka Cola says the pistol used in the crime has been sent for ballistic testing.

“The accused 55-year-old Warrant Officer stationed at Mthatha VIP protection unit, Ronnie Doko, remains in custody. This is after he appeared in Centane Magistrate’s Court earlier today. The court has postponed this case to Thursday the 13th of May for possible bail application.”
