Meals on Wheels Community Services South Africa is a non-profit organisation that seeks to eradicate hunger and poverty by serving the basic needs of underprivileged communities.
Established in 1964 to serve a warm meal to elderly people it has since evolved and has many branches worldwide.
Through a fleet of trucks, meals are delivered to a number of locations around the country.
Training and Development Manager of Meals on Wheels Community Services South Africa, Yanela Takawira says they also provide skill development training.
“We have moved more to beyond a plate of meal to transferring skills to make sure that our beneficiaries are sustainable on their own.”
The organisation wants to develop successful entrepreneurs with basic skills.
