The chief of the Bhaca people in the Eastern Cape, Thandisizwe Diko has passed away Sunday afternoon in an East London hospital after a short illness.
A family spokesperson, Lumko Mtimde confirmed his death to SABC News.
The 43-year old Diko is a well-known businessman and husband to the Presidency spokesperson, Khusela Diko.
Diko is presently on special leave after corruption allegations relating to her husband being awarded a multi-million Rand PPE contracts by the Gauteng Health Department.
SIU investigation
Diko went on special leave in July 2020 amid a Special Investigating Unit (SIU) investigation into her husband’s multi-million rand deals with the Gauteng Department of Health.
