Third child’s body found in Cape Town

The body of a third child has been found near the N2 Borchards Quarry intersection close to Cape Town International Airport.

City fire and rescue Spokesperson Jermaine Carelse says reports indicate that a fourth child is unaccounted for.

Carelse says search operations are still underway in the area.

He says the bodies of two other children were found on Monday afternoon after they fell into a hole.

It is unclear what caused the incident.

Missing children

According to figures released by the South African Police Service Missing Persons Bureau, a child goes missing every five hours in South Africa.

Missing Children South Africa’s statistic indicates that 77% of children are found, at least 23% of the children being either never found.
