Catholic Archbishop Abel Gabuza of Durban has died at Hillcrest Hospital after a week in ICU battling with COVID-19.
In a statement issued by Archbishop Wilfrid Cardinal Napier, Archbishop Gabuza has been described as a gentle person who made an impact on everyone who was privileged to meet him.
Napier says his passing is a loss to the entire church in Southern Africa.
