The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) says 63% of the 9 320 new COVID-19 cases that were reported on Saturday are in Gauteng.
According to the latest figures Gauteng recorded more than 5 000 new infections followed by the Western Cape with 987.
Another 114 people have succumbed to the virus bringing the total death toll to 57 706.
The positivity rate now stands at 16.6 % and the recovery rate has dropped to 91%.
Another 425 people were admitted to hospital yesterday bringing the total number of people who are currently being treated in high care and ICU wards to 7 448.
