Acting Judge of the High Court in Mpumalanga and a member of the Judicial Service Commission, Lutendo Sigogo, has passed away due to COVID-19 complications.
Forty-nine-year-old Sigogo died at a hospital in Polokwane on Saturday. Sigogo also served as President of the Black Lawyers Association.
Family spokesperson Lindelani Sigogo says they are sad and still in shock.
“Yesterday morning (Saturday) we received the sad news that our beloved brother Lutendo Benedict Sigogo was called by God. He passed on at Medi Clinic hospital in Polokwane with COVID-19 complications where he was admitted for the past week. He is survived by his wife and five children. As the family, we are still reeling with pain and shock.”
South Africa has recorded 12 418 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24-hours, taking total infections to 2 447 454.
Three-hundred and 34 deaths have been reported, bringing the total to 72 013 deaths.
