SA records 12 513 COVID-19 cases, 331 deaths

South Africa has recorded 12 513 new Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in the past 24-hours, bringing the total number of cases to 2 075 409.

The country has also recorded 331 new COVID-19 related fatalities, pushing the death toll to 62 171.

Recoveries now stand at 1 827 821

Meanwhile, South Africa is set to start rolling out the Sinovac-CoronaVac vaccine manufactured in China after it received conditional approval from the South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA).

The Chinese-made vaccine is being used in many countries and it has been shown to be effective in preventing severe COVID-19 disease and death. But there are some questions about its general efficacy.
