Free State police have arrested seven suspects in Kroonstad for being in possession of ARV tablets worth more than R1.9 with the aim of selling them to a potential buyer from Welkom.
The Illicit Mining task team received information regarding suspects who were travelling from Gauteng to Kroonstad and were in possession of 1 272 containers of ARV tablets. Police also confiscated a vehicle.
Four suspects are from Sebokeng in Vereeniging, one Lesotho citizen staying in Welkom, one from Phuthaditjhaba and the other one from Theunissen.
The five men and two women will be charged with contravening the Contravention of Medicine Act and will appear in court soon.
